Employment:

  • 2014 – 2016: Carleton University (Ottawa, ON, Canada) Teaching Assistant Mentor:
    • Organized and/or hosted pedagogical training workshops on running geology labs, optical properties, effective marking and inclusive geoscience education. Ensured cohesion and collegiality by offering social opportunities such as weekly coffee hours. Served as a link between departmental teaching assistants and Education Development Centre.
  • 2012 – 2014: Carleton University (Ottawa, ON, Canada) 2012 – 2014 Graduate Teaching Assistant:
    • Assisted instructors and professors teach “Mineralogy to Petrology,” “Igneous Systems, Geochemistry and Processes” and “Mineral Deposits.” Marked exams, laboratory and other assignments; assisted students in understanding concepts and proctored examinations.
  • 2010 – 2012: University of Ottawa (Ottawa, ON, Canada)  Graduate Teaching Assistant:
    • Assisted instructors and professors teach “Earth and How it Works,” “Introduction to Earth Materials” and “Planetary Geology.” Marked exams, laboratory and other assignments; lead small group discussions on field trips; assisted students in understanding concepts and proctored examinations.
  • 2005: U.S. Geological Survey (Vancouver, WA, U.S.A.) DO-IT Contract Intern:
    • I used a graphics software program to remotely estimate the rate of active dome growth during the 2004-2006 eruption of Mt. St. Helens. Included one day of fieldwork assisting in surveying monitoring stations.

    • With M.-C. Williamson, convened SY4: “Environmental and Economic Significance of Gossans Associated with Mineralization in Rifts and Large Igneous Provinces.”
  • June, 2011 Geological Association of Canada Annual Meeting (Ottawa, ON, Canada) Student Helper:
    • Loaded PowerPoint presentations onto computers, assisted delegates in way-finding.
